Some absolutely outstanding postings this week. Really impressed with the depth of reflection on some of the Blogs, and the excellent way that some students are using it exactly as intended - to store info such as abbreviations, technique etc that they have learnt. For anyone who is struggling, I would recommend taking at look at Kati's, Laura's, Sharon's or Nicola's, to name a few!
If anyone has tried accessing UDo this week you may have noticed some changes. Blackboard has gone live now, so the interface is different. All materials that you may need for the PBM are up on Blackboard (module code 6RD012) as well as UDo though.
Hope you all have a good weekend! We have quite a hectic one coming up, with various exhibitions, parties and dinner dates! C U soon.

Blogs not working correctly
I have noticed that a number of the Sept 05 cohort blogs have been disabled by Blogger.com. If your is one of the disabled ones it is very easy to get it re-activated. Either follow the steps on blogger.com, or check UDo where I have put some info, or email me. Please do this ASAP though, as you should be posting to your Blog at least twice per week! Emma

Resits & Bloggers
Has been busy this week with resit exams and OSCE's, so marking piling up!
Good to see more Sept 05 students starting to get ready for their PBM next week and customising and posting to their Blogs. If you do have any problems logging in please drop me an email ASAP, as remember you need to post a minimum of twice per week whilst on the placement. Emma

Students Blogs & Interpol!
Have been really pleased with the Blogs of the PBM students who have been out on placement a bit earlier than the rest - there are some really interesting & detailed posts which will make it a lot easier when they come to writing up their journals and putting together a poster.
On a social note, went to see one of our favourite bands on Monday night, Interpol, at the B'rum Academy. Was an absolutely great gig - they played loads of stuff off the new album plus old favourites like 'Evil', 'PDA' and 'Narc'.
Looking forward to the Bank Holiday weekend - hope the weather holds as we have a BBQ to go to on Saturday. Hope you have a great one too!

New number at KR
It is great being here at Ked Rd - life is so much simpler without all the to-ing and fro-ing between the DRI and KR! If you need to get in touch my new number is 01332 593070.
Settling in at KR
Well our move to KR went very smoothly, and I am already feeling quite at home here! Claire & I's new office is lovely, having fantastic views over to Markeaton Park and the Kedleston estate. There is still lots of activity on our floor as a whole as Pharmacy & Psychology are now moving in, so I guess it maybe a few weeks before it settles down.
Looking forward to catching some coverage of the Benicassim Festival that Martin & I went to on MTV2 over the weekend - see if we can spot ourselves amongst the crowds!

Back from holidays......
Well back home now after a wonderful 3 weeks away, and experiencing just a little culture shock! Great to see our doggies again though.
At work Dev House is full of crates, so not the most pleasant place to be! We are all just looking forward to next week and getting settled into our new accommodation on N2. Been checking all the students Blogs this morning, and pleased to see some great stuff. Looking forward to the PBM getting going properly in September and seeing lots more activity!

Barcelona
Hey There - bit longer than I thought before I have managed to post - too busy enjoying myself I'm afraid!!
Our stay in Valencia was great - fabulous hotel, wonderful hosts and great food. What more do you do need for a few days chilling after a festival!?!
We are now in Barcelona, staying in an apartment in the Barri Gotic, which is a cool area full of little boutiques, galleries, bars and restuarants, so enjoying checking them all out. We are also hanging out in an area called El Born (a few minutes walk away) a lot, for the same reasons! We are heading off to the Picasso museum this afternoon. We have been before, but there is an special photography exhibition documenting his life on at the moment, so we want to check that out.
Hope everything ok back home. Em x

Benicassim Festival
Well after 4 days of fantastic live music at the Benicassim festival, the party is drawing to a close tonight. We have seen some fabulous bands - Arctic Monkeys, The Horrors, Muse, Kings of Leon, The Rapture, Wilco, Albert Hammond Jr, CSS and The Hives being some of the best. The Hives show was totally mental and very entertaining! Muse were their usual epic and totally brilliant selves, and Arctic Monkeys were just cool - definitely want to see them again. We were really disappointed with BRMC though, who we had been really looking forward to seeing - they were pretty shambolic. The sound was terrible and they were all over the place. There is a big beach party tonight to celebrate the end of the festival, so we are going to head down to that later and check it out.
The weather has been fab (in contrast to what I hear about back home!), so we have been enjoying soaking up the sun in the day. Planning to visit Castellon tomorrow and have a look around. After that we are off to Valencia on Wednesday, so will post again then. E xx

OCSE's finished, holiday soon though!
Well a very busy assessment period ended this week, with the Sept 05 cohort having their OSCE's on Monday, and the phase 3 students having their OSCE's yesterday. They were two very intense days, not only for the students but for staff too! It was really nice catching up with the phase 3 students and hearing who has got jobs now, and what their plans are. I will miss them when they qualify next week - they are a great bunch.
Well I am off on my hols next week, and can't wait! We are going to the Benicassim festival in Spain (some great bands on - Muse, Arctic Monkeys, BRMC, King of Leon, Klaxons, CSS & tonnes more), then we are going to Valencia for a few nights, and then Barcelona for 9 nights. Should be fab - if we don't get too stressed with all the driving! Hope you all have a great summer too.

First Post
I am a Lecturer in Imaging at the University of Derby. I teach primarily on the BSc Hons Diagnostic Radiography programme, with some input on the BTEC in Imaging.
This is the first post to my new Blog. The Blog will be used a method of communicating with some of my UG students whilst they are undertaking a negotiated placement over the summer period of 2007. Some of the students are going abroad (USA, Canada & Gibraltar), some are much more local (Derby, Leicester, Birmingham etc). All of them will be undertaking placements in areas of Imaging departments which are of special interest to them.
